The HI-2200 is the latest addition to Holt’s family of MIL-STD-1553 terminals with integrated transformers, offering software compatibility with existing Data Device Corporation (DDC®) Mini-ACE®, Enhanced Mini-ACE®, Micro-ACE®, Mini-ACE® Mark3 and Total-ACE® families of MIL-STD-1553 Terminals.

The HI-2200 uses a single 3.3V supply and combines the proven functionality of Holt’s HI-6200 family with integrated bus isolation transformers in a single device, delivering a fully integrated, dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553/1760 BC/RT/MT interface solution.
The device incorporates the 1553 protocol engine, ECC SRAM, dual transceivers, and dual transformers within a compact 15 mm × 15 mm × 4.4 mm BGA package.
Featuring a high-performance 8/16-bit parallel host interface, the HI-2200 provides rapid access to shared memory, reducing system latency and lowering CPU utilisation for demanding avionics and mission-critical applications. Two device options are offered: the HI-22003, supporting programmable BC/RT/MT and RT/MT configurations, and the RT-only HI-22023.
By eliminating the need for external bus isolation transformers, the HI-2200 significantly reduces board footprint and simplifies system design. Its low-profile package makes it particularly well-suited for space-constrained applications, including modern XMC and PMC mezzanine card assemblies.
“Software compatibility with established Enhanced Mini-ACE® solutions allows customers to leverage previously developed software while moving to a much more compact and highly integrated solution,” said Sean Sleicher, Director of Business Development at Holt. “By integrating the MIL-STD-1553 terminal, dual transceivers and bus isolation transformers in a single low-profile package, the HI-2200 can significantly reduce board space, component count and overall system cost.”
Enabled terminals communicate directly with MIL-STD-1553 buses through the device’s integrated dual-redundant transceivers and transformers. The user allocates on-chip 64K x 16-bit static ECC RAM between terminal modes to suit application requirements. The on-chip ECC RAM provides additional protection against data corruption by automatically detecting and correcting memory errors, providing additional robustness in high-altitude or other applications subject to SEU events.
